Panther Breakaway Domestic

Leadership opportunities now available!
Panther Breakaway is part of the national alternative breaks program, which organizes community service trips for college students during their winter, spring and summer breaks. Civic Engagement offers both international and domestic trips.

Students who are looking for a meaningful way to spend winter or spring break can join Civic Engagement and other students with a heart for service for a week of volunteer activities in cities across the southeast United States.

Winter Trips

Dates: December 12-16, 2018
Cost: $300
Cities and Focus Area:

  • Miami, FL: Poverty and Income Inequality
  • Jacksonville, FL: Refugee Resettlement
  • Nashville, TN: Mental Health Awareness
  • Raleigh, NC: LGBTIQ + Advocacy

Spring Trips

Dates: March 17-23, 2019
Cost: $350
Cities and Focus Area:

  • New Orleans, LA: Urban Education
  • Tampa, FL: Sex Trafficking
  • Charleston, SC: Sustainability and Environmental Awareness
  • TBD: Disaster Relief

Trip Details

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis
  • Each trip cost includes all transportation, lodging and meals
  • Students, faculty and staff can pay for Panther Breakaway alternative break trips online through Marketplace.

Trip Leaders

Civic Engagement is currently accepting applications for site leaders for 2018-2019. Site leaders receive a $50 discount on the price of their trip.

Faculty and staff interested in applying to be a part of the trip can apply as well.
